T.38 is the standard for Real-Time Group 3 Facsimile transmission between terminals, where a portion of the transmission path between terminals includes an IP network such as the Internet. MESSAGEmanager IP FAX eliminates the need to deploy and maintain remote fax servers in multiple locations, subsituting inexpensive Gateways which connect to the PSTN. Messages are routed over the IP network to the PSTN destination via the nearest T.38 Fax Gateway.

Savings of up to 40% have been reported from shifting fax traffic to IP networks.

MESSAGEmanager supports Brooktrout SR140 (PDF 221Kb) fax media processing software and TR1034 media processing hardware integrated with Cisco Routers, Cisco Call Manager (PDF 1,432Kb), Avaya Media Gateways (PDF 474Kb), Alcatel-Lucent switches (PDF 1,346Kb), AudioCodes (PDF 163Kb), 3Com and other SIP and H.323 compliant T.38 Gateways and routers.

T.30 is the standard for real time facsimile between terminals on the public swiched telephone network. MESSAGEmanager T.30 FAX supports analog, basic rate and primary rate ISDN with Brooktrout TruFax (PDF 216Kb), TR1034 (PDF 220Kb) and Dialogic D41JCT (PDF 227Kb), VFX41JCT (PDF 230Kb) and Diva media resources.
