Hi, my name is Joanne Sacco and I am the new Marketing Manager for MESSAGEmanager Solutions.

It is an exciting time to join the MESSAGEmanager team as it coincides with the release of R2 2010 and the positive response we are experiencing from our expansion into the Asian market.

With the R2 release, we have merged the MESSAGEmanager Fax, SMS and Information Delivery Services with those of the MESSAGEmanager VoiceXML server providing you with all the benefits of MESSAGEmanager Speech enabled IVR, Speech Attendant and Presence Based Messaging Solutions.

R2 introduces a new Lite version of MESSAGEmanager designed to meet the needs of organisations that require only 14.4kbps of IP fax and 4 ports of IP or board based voice and fax.

According to the latest Davidson Consulting Report, MESSAGEmanager is one of the top five IP Fax vendors in the world and enjoys over 60% AsiaPac market share.

In response to unprecedented growth, MESSAGEmanager Asia is now open for business. Based in Hong Kong, Bruce Fowler, will head up operations. He comes to the MESSAGEmanager team well qualified with over 22 years of senior management experience in the IT industry and an intimate knowledge of computer based fax technology and markets. Bruce’s local knowledge and skills will no doubt prove vital to this market.

Telstra IP Telephony Network Compliant

MESSAGEmanager is the first and only fax server to be certified for direct connection to Telstra IP Telephony (TIPT) network.

Telstra IP Telephony (TIPT) can help to increase the speed and efficiency of communications to improve productivity and customer engagement. Hosted on the Telstra network, Telstra IP Telephony is a flexible subscription-based service ideal for large offices, branch offices and remote sites, or contact centres. Designed to operate with existing telephone systems, it can help to overcome the problems of managing different communication systems across dispersed sites.

MESSAGEmanager TIPT compliance means TIPT users can integrate any business application to send and receive facsimiles via IP Fax.

IP Fax interoperability with NET Gateway and Exchange 2010

Following certification by independent Laboratory TEKVIZION that MESSAGEmanager Fax complies with the stringent Exchange 2010 Partner Fax Certification Specification, NET has completed end-to-end testing to give customers the opportunity to consider a total solution for Exchange 2010 with MESSAGEmanager.

An added benefit of interoperability is that the user’s voice number can double as a fax number. Unlike other “one number fax solutions” in the market, the NET VX-series gateways in conjunction with MESSAGEmanager Fax, does not ring the user’s phone device when the fax is received.

When a fax call is received at the VX gateway, it is identified as a fax by the CNG tone (that’s the 1100 Hz. “beeping tone” the calling fax machine makes when initiating a connection). When the VX-series gateway recognises the call as a fax call, it initiates a SIP signalling exchange to connect the call to MESSAGEmanager rather than to the user’s voice device. The VX receives the analog fax signal, converts it into a digital representation and passes the transmission in a stream of packets to MESSAGEmanager Fax. MESSAGEmanager receives the fax page image as a TIFF file and forwards it to the Exchange server as an e-mail attachment along with the sender information such as Caller ID.

SAP® Business One Fax Interoperability

SAP Business One (B1) users can now fax purchase orders, invoices, remittance advices etc. direct from SAP via MESSAGEmanager Fax. All that is required are line licenses and IP Fax drivers or a Fax board.

MESSAGEmanager emulates an outbound Fax Server Provider for the Microsoft Fax Service so all applications which currently support the Microsoft Fax Server such as Business One, can use MESSAGEmanager as an interface to IP fax services. The MESSAGEmanager Fax Server Provider dll and the Microsoft compatible Web Service, now included with MESSAGEmanager, are all that is required.
  • MMfsp is a Fax Server Provider dll which implements the Microsoft defined interface so it can be loaded by the Microsoft Fax Service.  MMfsp communicates with the MESSAGEmanager Server using the MMfspWS web service.

  • MMfspWS is a .NET 4.0 Web Service which uses HTTPS and is set up on an IIS server (usually the MESSAGEmanager Server) with a Certificate.
Business One users can send one-off fax transmissions from B1 Tool bar or bulk faxes direct from the print queue with Streamline Software’s Auto Doc.

Faster Fax 33.6 V.Fast Super G3 IP Fax

V.34 is the fax standard for sending and receiving data across phone lines at up to 33.6 kbps. V.34 can send fax data at more than twice the speed of V.17 (14.4 kbps) and also supports fast handshaking, which can cut call setup and session-management time by up to one-third.

Currently this is only supported by Cisco IOS 15.1 (1) T and DMG 3000 and 4000 series with MESSAGEmanager Enterprise.

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Compliant

Australian card fraud grew by $145.8 million last year, according to the Australian Payments Clearing Association. Following the US, tough new security standards have now been introduced to the Australian market.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is a set of requirements designed to ensure that all companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Essentially any merchant that has a Merchant ID (MID) must demonstrate compliance or risk facing heavy fines.

Confidential data such as credit card numbers transmitted or received via e-mail is considered a security risk. To enable users to continue to send and receive facsimiles via e-mail and comply with PCI requirements, R2 2010 includes PCI DSS compliant Gateways for Exchange, Domino and SMTP mail systems.

The PCI compliant E-mail Gateways deliver a URL link to the mailbox rather than the actual fax content – i.e. no file attachment is included in the e-mail message. The message content is stored in the secure MESSAGEmanager File Store. Access to the file is provided by a MESSAGEmanager Web Client user, or group of users, authorised to view the message (based on the current Web Client Group and Security Settings). No extra user login or database is required for fax authentication - Active Directory controls all access.

This feature can also assist in situations with concerns about mail server overheads – instead of PDF or TIFF attachments being mailed to single or multiple users, only a single line URL is e-mailed, reducing storage requirements. The actual received fax is stored in the queue or archive database for the configured period only.

Where MESSAGEmanager software, including IP Voice Drivers is deployed for High Availability and Fault Tolerance (DR) in Virtual environments, no additional license fee is required for the secondary and subsequent instances of MESSAGEmanager provided they are not installed or used for anything other than archival and backup purposes.

MESSAGEmanager IP Voice software runs on VMware ESXi 4.0 and Windows 2003 32bit operating system.

MFD E-mail Enhancement

For all MFDs integrated with MESSAGEmanager via anonymous Scan to E-mail a transmission report, including the first page of the fax, can be printed on the originating MFD as an alternative to e-mail notifications.

Outlook 2010 Add-in

MESSAGEmanager is optimised for Outlook 2010 ribbon, but will continue to support the previous format in Outlook 2007. Supports 32bit and 64bit operating systems and Office installations and group policy rollout.
